The swift, cruel autumn wind swept the cliffs edge mercilessly, taunting the elevated rocks with shrill laughter. Stringing its saliently menacing tips through loosely compacted earth, while teasingly running its cool breath gingerly along the lands occupants. Howling viciously while watching the rodents scurrying into their makeshift shelters. Frantically escaping from the vigorously sadistic blasts of possessed air.
Oblivious to the brutality a bigger occupant stared mindlessly into the eerie, misty blackness of the depths below the cliffs border, watery bloodshot eyes roaming over the seemingly endless drop. Taking no notice to the draft currents threading its icy talons into her fiery hair, whipping around the heart shaped tear stained face. Instead the only thing in the lithe figures awareness was the steep deathly fall into utter completeness
and a torn weather worn sheet of parchment clutched into her small childlike fists.
A wet sob raked through the womans body as her dreary green orbs reread the misery coated letter, salt water streaming down her porcelain skin gracefully curving down her chin to spill onto the beautifully scrolled letters, mixing in with the dull ink forcing the words to spillingly leak cries of ebony. Her pupils absorbed the words, piecing her soul with their sorrowful meaning one last time, bringing her a whole new wave of suffering.
Standing brokenly the heartache choked princess gradually stepped up to the steep drop off, the sound of paper being forced into a anguished limbo by the harsh wind absently made its way to her grief covered ears, the sound of the letter that was responsible to her broken hearted actions, the letter that explained her lovers death.
Shaking fingers idly traced a ruby pendant laced around the reapers victims neck, the necklace given to her by her love, the necklace that was a promise of marriage upon his return from battle. The pale hand clutched painfully to her engagement gem, while she thought of the wedding that should have been, but will never be, and the broken promise he had made swearing that he would come back unscathed.
Lashes fluttered closed as black clad arms spread, Together, she whispered, a smile gracing her crimson lips, Well be together.
With one last step, tears of happiness fanned her cheeks as her body fell through foggy oblivion, her fragile body rushing down to meet the jagged rocks below.
